Max joined the board in 2016 after the foundation's reorganisation. He came to the company initially as a sceptical client in 2010 with a ruined knee from years of sports injuries. The treatment worked, and he joined the board. Today he is Chairman.

During his tenure in the 1980s, the company helped bring iconic films like Rain Man, Platoon, and The Last Emperor to the screen. Founded in 1950, Film Finances has guaranteed over 6,000 productions with combined budgets exceeding $17 billion, backing films like Rain Man during Max's era to more recent award-winning films like The King's Speech, with offices in Los Angeles, London, Toronto, and Sydney.

Subsequently, Max has developed three compelling film projects, which he would like to produce with creative partners:

  • The Baker's Dozen — A World War II love story set in Ukraine. Original planned cast included Carey Mulligan, Tim Spall, Bill Nighy, Danny Huston, and Wes Bentley
  • Run for New York — The true story of Captain Nathaniel Courthope, whose stand on the island of Run in the East Indies eventually led to New Amsterdam becoming New York
  • The Right to Know — A courtroom drama about a couple who contract HIV and are never told by their insurer
